Our Annual Giving Back Issue is Out!

At times, philanthropy can seem like a loaded word reserved for the rich and famous. But as our own little community here in Beijing demonstrates time and time again, philanthropy is anything but that. It doesn’t need to be some grand gesture backed by a billion RMB company.
Rather, giving back begins with small acts of kindness that each and every one of us is capable of. That’s why every year we publish our Giving Back issue, to acknowledge and recognize some extraordinary individuals who leave a lasting impact on their community in all the various and creative ways that philanthropic work manifests.
In this issue, Helen Boyle, founder of Migrant Children Foundation gets some pampering at Mobe (P. 10). We also take a closer look at the charitable initiatives of two Beijing-founded restaurant groups, Mosto and TRB, which have been some of our favorite go-to restaurants for years (P. 16).
And while the holiday season is filled with gifts and well wishes, that doesn’t mean it needs to be a season of excess and unnecessary spending. Julie Wolf shares some insights into ethical gifting and raising kids who don’t succumb to the gimmies, greed, and eco-guilt (P. 22).
Lastly, jingkids has been a part of the Beijing community since 2006 and we’re continuously growing and expanding. We’re a team of people who are your friends and neighbors, and our goal is to share the best of our beloved city with fellow expat families. So get to know the jingkids editorial team a bit better and as always, feel free to contact us with recommendations, feedback, or just to say hi (P. 22).
From all of us here at jingkids and the wider True Run Media family, happy holidays!
